Dissemination of the 4th Project Meeting through Bulgarian Media

Children and teachers from 5 countries discovered Ruse as the most beautiful city

The fourth meeting of the Warm at Home LLP Comenius project is taking place in Vasil Levski Secondary School

The mayor, Mr Plamen Stoilov, accepted the delegation working in the international project “Warm and Home” within the framework of the LLP Comenius programme, whose host is Vasil Levski Secondary School. 16 teachers and 16 students from Italy, Poland, Spain, Hungary and Turkey, together with their colleagues from their partner school in Ruse, got together for the fourth meeting of the project in Ruse. In the round table hall of the Municipality, the coordinator of the Bulgarian team, Mr Georgi Ivanov – vice principal of Vasil Levski Secondary School, opened the meeting by presenting to the mayor the main coordinator of the project – Joanna Wilczyńska, an English teacher from Łódż, together with the rest of the coordinators. Plamen Stoilov welcomed the guests and congratulated the hosting school’s principal, Mr Galin Ganchev, on this “unique step forward in the development of the school, which is the result of a good management team.”He expressed his satisfaction from the fact that the project is entirely focused on the education of children. “It is essentially important that children have such contact with friends and partners from the vast European family.” The mayor told the guests about the 43 European Union projects which Ruse, the most beautiful town in Bulgaria, is working on; about the 150 things that happened for the first time in the country; about the fact that the Enlightenment and democracy in Bulgaria started in Ruse.  He invited the children and the teachers from the five countries to come again to Ruse, the free spirit city, next year when the new museum and sports arena will have been finished and the town will have been renovated and will be even more beautiful.

At the end of the meeting, the children shared their impressions from Ruse, from the Museum of History which they visited, and gave Mr Stoilov a hat and a t-shirt with the logo of the project as a present in order to accept him in their “warm” family.

Before that, during the day, the guests visited the Museum of History, the city centre, the Museum of Urban lifestyle and were accepted by Bishop Naum, Metropolitan of Ruse, from whom they received postcards with the image of the Nursing Madonna.

As we wrote earlier in time, the topic of the project focuses on the warmth within the relations between people – towards animals, traditions, celebrations, customs, protection of the environment, using alternative power sources, etc.

The days in the educational programme in Bulgaria also include discussions regarding the upcoming stages of the project, a trip to Varna, a visit of the Thermal Power Plant in Ruse and many other events like exhibitions, presentations, meetings between children.
